I get it, Matt. That is why I don't force interaction but create a space where interaction is possible if the animal is willing (ie offering food). Wild animals need some investment too!
We went hiking in the park behind our house yesterday. It was pretty muddy and icy but we had a good time. Watched a golden eagle soaring for a while, stood 30 feet from a deer while it ate, saw some fox tracks. On our way back down the trail we saw some other unusual tracks - turns out we found out where our eagle friend stopped down to have a drink.

Still haven't caught sight of the animal that lives in the burrow by our fenceline. I think it might be a groundhog, I'm just sorta hoping it's not a skunk!
