I've developed some feelings for her but she's more of a friend and it's not something I'd want to potentially damage by being more than just friends. Anyways, I started pondering the reasons for the attraction and all of a sudden, I realized that she felt more like a project. A project that really has no reward other than to help her get back to being a happy person after all the hell she went through. I then started retracing all the women that I've dated or hung out with in the passed few years and every single one of them were either beat by their significant other or had very traumatic childhoods involving abuse. This got me wondering if we somehow attract projects for us to do our service to others?
In the spirit of Ra's statement about how "love and light go where they are needed", I would say that, yes, you may have this particular type of service to offer, and may therefore attract/find this particular type of person needing this service.
It's like you have the skillset of a mechanic. People are going to bring their cars to you for repair as a result.
But, of course, service given is service received. So like I believe you are implying in post #5, your service involves a real sacrifice on your part, but you have this need, and your need is fulfilled in being able to help others.
