I've independently discovered the meditation technique Tanner describes, although I seldom do a full spiral workout (usually just 1 to 7, then 7 to 1, and then some snaking spirals on rays that seem stagnant). It's great for temporarily cleaning and opening each energy center. It also helps increase m energetically increase my sensitivity thoughts and beliefs affecting the centers.
It's a great supplement to working directly with your beliefs in order to unblock your rays.
