I 'met' a tree I suspect is at such a level when I was in Yosemite several months ago. It was the only tree in the middle of a scenic meadow. I demanded my wife photograph it heavily.I will try to locate the photos of it and post them if anyone is interested.
I was reading about a 3,200 year old Sequoia tree and just looking at the pictures I knew it was conscious on many levels, likely moreso than myself. I would love to meet some elder trees, I feel there have been many felled since the industrial revolution.
