Lady in the Water (2006)
another greatly misunderstood film.
it is somehow mocked for its simplicity and 'naivety' and yet it speaks to the nature of the subconscious, and that which drives and enlivens our lives here in the 'waking world'.
the 4 central archetypal roles presented are:
* the Guardian
* the Guild
* the Healer
* and the Interpreter
and who is who, and what is what?
like all M Night Shyamalan films it works its magic on the first viewing, and reveals its mystery like the tearing off of a Veil; subsequent viewings cannot match the glorious first experience of the 'knowing'.
the music is evocative and well placed; the casting spot on and delightfully humorous.
in this fable of the human experience we get to see in the ordinariness of human experience how there may be a co-ordinating of greater parts at a deeper level.
an unforgettable experience.
