Aha That sounds quite amazing for sure! I have had experiences watching certain animated movies where I will have a ton of epiphanies all throughout it and sort of slip in and out of dream.
That is what I feel like you experienced, what I call the "in-between", which is basically a state between being awake and dreaming, so its like a dream overlay of your reality as you are experiencing it. I believe this is like time/space being in ratios with space/time. Rather than being fully in balance betwren space/time and time/space you were more shifted towards time/space, but not enough to enter in to another body, just slighty to modify the experience you are having. I believe the australian aborigines use it and know it as dreamtime.
Also, on topic, I believe this state is one way in which we can interact with other parts of our own inner planes. If the gods and goddess exist as inner planes entities as well then that could be one potential form of communication. This is meant to be done with much caution, care and dedication, though, as one can easily get carried away.
