Xise, I can assure you as a vegan myself going on about a year, that it is a difficult road to walk, but rewarding. Once your tastebuds adjust, things like cheese and butter actually start to taste bad if you can even imagine! There are very tasty substitutes available. I've been on a kick making pizza actually - pizza with whitesauce! As crazy as it sounds, blending soft tofu with garlic and oil creates an "alfredo" type base that just needs extra seasoning. Salt, green onions, and nutritional yeast are all it takes to turn it into a cheesy cream sauce that would rival any dairy based sauce. (nutritional yeast being the quintessential cheese substitute, having a cheesy/nutty flavor that is pungent enough to give everything that cheddary bite)
Anyway, as with most things I think it's slow training, getting the body used to using other forms of nourishment, deprogramming from what you've come to accept as "food". I've come to find taste to be one of the most fleeting sensual pleasures anyway.
