@Ankh, are you trying to say the timing is off? If that's the case, one could argue a chunk of Maldek could have orbited the solar system several times(thousands of years) before passing too close to Mars.

So it seems to me that the reason to why their planetary sphere got inhospitable is due to their bellicose actions, and not because something hit their planet, if one is to go with Ra...?
