I view the High Priestess as a Librarian (albeit a very sexy one) who is in charge of the vast archives of light, or what is better known as the infinite unconscious mind.
as the Librarian, whe goes and selects the books that she thinks is most appropriate for your current development. What she has to choose from is vast; the library of the unconscious mind not only includes the personal unconscious, but all is included in the consciousness of the ALL MIND.
of course, the books that she is able to select from is limited by your current ability to read them (ie the abilities of the magician), but she is fully aware of the extent and limit of your powers, and chooses accordingly.
as you grow and develop, so a wider selection of information becomes available.
working with the cards above this one (the Empress, the Emperor, and Hierophant) fortifies one's ability to work with the conscious self.
one cannot talk about this card independently of the spirit complex, which represents the input of light into the mind (consciousness). The light of the spirit may be likened to one of our senses.
the Judgement card is intimately related to the High Priestess in terms of opening up various gateways and opportunities.
