    The Two Paths

I have nothing to add about the symbols of this card that the Law of One does not already cover, except perhaps that the triangles on the ground represent the diverging paths. Ra only hints at this. However, this card figures prominently in my experience. Any time I have the opportunity to insist that I am a certain way or I am not a certain way (“oh that’s just our Joseph, he’ll never change”), I see myself as having the opportunity to force my own vision of myself upon my unconscious mind. The book called The Secret might be useful to consider here: it is rife with opportunities to force one’s own vision of oneself upon the unconscious mind. So if I have a dream to be a wealthy musician, if it matters that much to me, I will accomplish this, unconscious mind be damned. I also have the option to respect whatever it is that the unconscious mind wants to give to me. Suppose it wants me to be a nomad. I may not find this out right away because I have been so busy courting it, showering it with love at each little aspect newly revealed, until one day I realize that most of my life, I haven’t lived in the same city for more than a couple of years at a time. The right hand path says, “hmm, I guess I’m a nomad. Cool.” While the left hand path says “I’m tired of being a nomad. You will give me the experience of a rockstar.”

This Archetype has been a prominent card in my experience lately, and I think it has everything to do with crystallizing an already open heart chakra. I’ve already pointed out that the disciplines of the mind which Ra details in Session 5 are nearly identical in content (though more extensive) to the Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono, a now famous technique of radical forgiveness. The Two Paths card depicts the mind presented with a Choice, and the content of this choice is nothing less that a decision to either accept or control. While we may perceive that acceptance or control is directed toward the other (and in many ways, it is), Ra is vigilant to always point out that “the other-self is also the self”. When you choose to love and forgive the other-self, you are choosing to love and forgive the part of yourself which the other-self represents. In fact, when Ra points out that one must forgive both other-self and self in order to stop the “inertia” of karma, one can draw direct correspondence between Ho’oponopono and the Ra Material: forgiveness of the other-self happens when you take full responsibility for the events in your life; forgiveness of the self happens when you accept what you have now taken responsibility for.

Just the opposite of these disciplines can be seen in the left-hand path, the path of the unconscious mind as prostitute. On this path, love and forgiveness are seen as weaknesses to be stifled and eliminated, and self-gratification is seen as fruit to be plucked at will (observe the grapes in her hair).

And yet the thrust of this card is not the Choice (though it is fundamentally structured by the Choice), but the result of making that choice. You might go through life forgiving and accepting some parts of yourself and attempting to subjugate other parts of yourself. From the perspective of the STO path, this is a lack of discipline in being consistent with the decision to accept. From the perspective of the STS path, this is a lack of discipline in being strong enough to reject the weak parts that crave acceptance. Ra refers to this phenomenon in 94.11 as the “many isles of positivity and negativity…in the archipelago of the deeper mind”. The Transformation of the Mind demands that one chooses a consistent approach toward the unconscious mind in order that the isles become consistently either positive or negative (depending on your Choice of polarity). Nevertheless, the mind cannot take its quantum leap forward and transform itself until it is willing to choose a path in relation to the Choice set before it. So, for example, if I find myself waffling between love and control in a relationship with a lover, I will not be able to achieve victory over myself (Great Way of the Mind) until I make a choice to either control or love and I commit myself fully to that choice by letting go of the hand of the other side of the polarity.

I really like the image of letting go of the hand of the other polarity.

I've always wondered at the notion of "The Lovers" because it seemed such an odd title...but it is like choosing a mate and completely commiting yourself.

Inspired by Monkey finding the archetypes in pop culture, this awesome Mumford and Sons song portrays the transformation of the mind to me. Enjoy, play loud, jump and grab a drum if you have one:

My experience in this card really corresponds to what you wrote, J. I kept calling what I was going through " my forgiveness project" And was doing h'onopono, and saying prayers of forgiveness, and had a very strong will and desire to move on, forgive and let go. It took a long time.

I really like what you wrote about the crystallization of an already open heart chakra. Yes, sounds like what I am working towards. Love that phrase.

Much of the forgiveness of self had to do with the acceptance of the limitations of my body, in this particular incarnation and healing from inner voices of an abusive patriarchy which is what we have ending this age . Inner voices that invalidate, judge , condemn, punish, control, belittle, dishonor, browbeat, you get the idea.

Looking at this process from an archetypal perspective is a bit humbling, in that I feel I have offered the Creator a gift of experience at a conscious awareness level that we normally do not experience. So from that perspective I have a lot of compassion and love for myself and my other- self.

Perhaps I am way off here?
but I am seeing the left hand path in this card as representing the emotional side of one's mind, and the right hand path as representing the thinking side of one's mind. The prostituted use of mind that Ra mentions in reference to this card, to me appears to represent the unevolved left hand 'emotions' of rage, hate, revenge, lust etc. and the matching right hand 'thoughts' of the same, which comes before the person evolves up the scale on both sides of the mind (ie. to compassionate emotions and thoughts). I found the Shin'Ar interpretation of this card helpful, which I interpreted as: When both sides of the mind have evolved, the person can then openly receive the love of 4h density via the 4th density arrow. This is because the left hand/feminie side of the mind is the receptive one?
The (transformative?) triangle within the bow and arrow is also curious?

The key to this card, indigo11, is the position of the male figure's hands. He holds the hands of both women, as if he wants to follow both, but they point toward different directions. The figure cannot possibly move forward until he releases one of the women. If one represents the emotional side of the mind and the other represents the thinking side, this would suggest that the way forward to is release one in favor of the other. However, we know that balance is central to all forward progress, especially on the STO path, so this interpretation meets with dissonance when the wider picture is taken into account.

    Correction,

Man is holding neither womans hand, but both woman are calling the man away from his position of sleep/reverence.

One is a clothed woman, one is a naked woman. But neither is looked upon as particularly interesting by the man with closed eyes.

To me, the meaning might be something far different which is denial of the "temptations of mara"

Another person's take on the card.

I have two concurrent Ra-based interpretations for the card.

First layer; the STO v STS “choice.” An unpolarized individual in the middle needs to choose a polarity. This is hard to do in the real world, thus the pivoting back and forth.

Second layer; the practical decision about how to put to use the vast resources of the mind. In this layer, the male figure must decide whether to use the intellect for the worldly (left path, right card figure) or the spiritual (right path, left card figure). For this level of interpretation, I note that the card is not presenting a pure STO/STS "choice" like layer one. The STO figure (left side of the card) is not dressed in white, nor is the STS figure (right side of the card) dressed in black. So there is complexity here. I interpret the STO figure’s checkered dress as indicative that her path/choice/way is for the use individuals of either polarity. So in this second layer, the central male figure is either a person polarized STO or polarized STS.

The right hand path (card’s left side) shows the flame of third eye awareness. This suggests to me magical workings, psychic abilities and the metaphysical. The left hand path (STS/card’s right side), then, represents worldly workings and the physical. So with the second layer interpretation the male figure is being presented with a “mind” choice: use your intellect in the world. Build, create, experience. Use the mind in your desired polarity in the world to achieve practical worldly things in accord with your polarity choice. The STO person choosing this path does good works and thinks good thoughts. The STS person on this path amasses power and the trappings of power in the real world. There are countless examples of each in the news all the time.

The other path/choice/way (right hand path/STO, card’s left side) is not about worldly stuff, but is a call to explore the powers of the mind. Meditation, dreams, clairvoyance, magical workings (literally), communication with ETs or disincarnate beings. I believe that the adept education that took place in Egypt and the training/experiences in the Great Pyramid are reflected in this card through this path/choice/way. Either polarity can choose this way. And the male figure’s crossed arms helps with this layer of interpretation. His right hand (STO) still connects to the left-hand (STS) female. Both sides offer opportunity to the chosen polarity; you can serve self or other in either path.

So the layer two question is: how do you want to put your mind to work? Do you want to use it outwardly in the world or do you want to explore the mysteries and powers of the Mind and become an Adept?

When Ra says that the figure in this card is supposed to choose one path and forsake forever the other, I tend to think he is talking about the second layer interpretation because we already know that to polarize positive for graduation you only need 51%. That is not a “forsake forever” choice because you don’t have to give up 49% STS to meet the goal. But I do think that there is no dilatant in choosing the path of the Adept. You either go all in or you just don’t have the discipline to complete the training.

(The next card, Chariot, shows the Adept in action. It’s a magical card. But to get there, you needed to have made the Adept “choice” in Card 6.)

In a card reading, this card has even more meanings, but as Ra says, this was not the intention of the tarot, so I’m not going to write about those here.
