Channeling

When I was a born-again Christian, I prayed and prayed for the 'gift of tongues' but it never happened. But I did start getting psychic visions instead!

Very cool! I look forward to experiencing this myself eventually, although I'm making a point not to set a goal in this as I think that would be self-sabotaging to an extent. However, once at the end of meditating I got a sudden mental image of a white flower with six pedals, which I took as a gift from my higher self for taking up the daily practice. I had just started a week or so earlier

Another thing that I was wondering about with regards to channeling are the supposed demon possessions that people can experience. I personally believe that a lot of these that take place at churches are mostly just play acting (whether consciously done or not), with the minister performing the exorcism, "I cast thee out!", etc. etc. But with most things, I feel that there is truth buried under the hype, and that these things do really happen. Whether in church or elsewhere. I remember reading in a book about a case in India where a man was possessed by a negative entity, and was literally dying from drinking too much water. Something on the order of 20 gallons a day, or some other insane quantity. The body couldn't hold on to any nutrients because of the constant water intake. Eventually he was healed when the spirit was cast out.

My question is how, if at all, this phenomenon relates to channeling. Obviously there are similarities and striking differences. Channeling is a voluntary while the possession is not. But are both situations rooted in the same technique or practice? How could someone be possessed by anything if all must abide by free will. Or are all possessions agreed to at an unconscious level?

As to the "born again" thing, I experienced it rather dramatically - so dramatically in fact that I am a practicing pastor to this day. But I tie it squarely to the Potentiator of the Spirit archetype and try desperately to avoid the associated doctrinality that comes with it. The key of the Potentiator of the Spirit archetype is the invitation for surrender that in my most humble opinion is the key to penetrating the veil, touching intelligent infinity, and being harvested, because it facilitates an abdication of the ego which orients to duality, and this allows one to live and experience life in a constant state of faith. Duality is the illusion that I believe Quo refers to, and it is what Jesus referred to as "the world". If one reads what he said, it is exactly the same as what Ra said, only in ancient metaphor and terminology. Living in a state of surrender is channeling the higher self, and life then becomes under the guidance of what has been called by many names - inner voice, higher self, guidance system, holy spirit, Self, Jesus, etc. When channeling other entities, we are warned to "test the spirits" which is the same as a challenge. I do not like to place any credence in unchallenged channeling. I have never channeled other entities that I'm aware of. I do not even know how one goes about doing it or what the process is. I've never witnessed it in person, though I've read thousands of pages of channeled material. There is not much of it that rings true except for Law of One, A Course in Miracles, and maybe a few more. A Course in Miracles claims to be channeled from Jesus. Ra said Jesus would not return physically but as a member of the Confederation speaking through a channel, and I believe ACIM is it. As to speaking in tongues, I believe it is channeling of some kind, but I'm not sure what. The early apostles described it as channeling the Holy Spirit, which I believe is the higher self. But it's a mystery why the higher self would communicate in this way. I do believe it's a real phenomenon though, but I myself have never experienced that either. I believe it activates the violet ray, I think it is. Maybe it's the indigo ray. I seem to always fail to have LOO material for reference when posting. Sorry for the extensive rambling, but these things came to mind when I read the thread, and I hope I've helped rather than bored you into a comatose state.
