Life and the universe are very much like a chess game.

You have a king and queen, and 4 others that have special, yet limited powers.
The king can move ONE square at a time only.
Yet unless you kill the king, you can't win the game.

The king symbolizes the potential of life, which must be considered one step at a time.

The queen represents the maximum potential that is possible, without breaking with the rules of the king. The queen can move just like the king, but it can move further.

The queen symbolizes the potential of life when expansion in space becomes possible

The Rook symbolizes the energy available, when no color is chosen

The Bishop represents the choice of direction, seeking a color above another

The knight represents the connection between all the forces. It is irregular, but real.

The pawn moves forward, and eats when it has a chance
The pawn represents the energy found in life

Never was much of a chess player myself, but it sounds like an accurate analogy! I often compare life to a piece of music- each of us are notes in a song who's beauty extends beyond the reaches of comprehension. Smile
