Acquiring Material Possessions

On possessions...I think it is more about attachment...

On status gained from possessions...well, honestly, ANYTHING could nurse the ego...some people think that a new BMW makes them "elite" and some people feel that being more spiritually advanced makes them "elite"...sometimes it even makes them feel like they can justify their inability to function in the world by their elite spiritual status.
NO, I don't think the people on this forum are doing that--but I've seen the one-up-man-ship in the spiritual arena too. Very sad. Definitely creates barriers that keep people separate when all they really want is to be accepted and loved.

I hold dear posessions that remind me of and help me feel love. My Mom's Bible, my mother-in-law's bracelet, my grandmother's cedar chest, my sister's dish towel, great grandmother's canning pot, stuff like that.

Reminds me that others have been here, too, to learn their lessons of love.
