Seems like a practical decision on the part of JAL's CEO. And yes, many, many CEOs in the United States cut their salaries as well, when their companies are struggling. But CNN didn't want to cover that for some reason. I wonder why?
Looks like the progressives are more likely to worship pay-cutting CEOs lol (e.g., Link)... not sure where CNN is on that spectrum or if that would matter.

I have worked for three companies - all American, all privately owned - in which the C level executives cut their own salaries, bonus programs etc because the times called for such an action to keep the company strong. This happened in the late '70s mid '80s, and early '90s. Two of these companies were quite large, one was a smaller family owned business. All three deeply valued their employees and treated them accordingly.
In one of these companies, I personally know of two instances when a critically ill employee was kept on the payroll and given a "work from home" position just so they would not lose their income or their medical benefits.

there are good ceos and there are plenty of greedy ones. the whole financial industry is rife with fraud. i have seen plenty of it . salaries in the 100's of millions, rigged markets. the sickness imho comes from the financial sector. there are plenty of reptilians who are controlling wall street and the banks and the politicians.
on the other hand the ceo of costco has capped his salry at 500,000 and the average wage of a worker at costco is 17 bucks an hour. that imo is healthy for everyone involved. just my take but my sentiments are definitely for the working class. norral ![]()

Yes, I'm sure this has been in practice all over the world for a long time. What's striking is the point made about how companies may recover and do better when companies prioritize/consider the employees... this may hold true for other sectors of society (global affairs, national affairs, school-systems, family, community). Value people, value life etc.
u know in looking at the video i would think that they have a corporate culture that encourages employee participation . making 90,000 as a ceo of a major airline is nothing really. that fellow get it .
i think a lot of ceos have lost touch with what actually is happening in their company. they are so far removed from the day to day operations that they dont relate to their workers. i work for the transit authority of nyc . the idea that a manager would actually come out and get involved in the operations like this guy is doing is totally foreign to them. so definitely having lunch with people taking the bus to work its all point of an approach that says even though i am the ceo i am also human. and while i have a job to do i will not let a title separate me from my fellow humans. props to him . yesterday at work we had a low level supervisor come in at midnight and tell a worker that he had to move his car so that the supervisor could have the spot. the worker refused to do it . props to the worker. that is the attitude where i work anyway that because u have a title u are above others. ha ha ha so funny really . i really enjoy bursting the balloons of people like this. and american society in general is rife with this vertical power structure. which is going to crumble in the coming years. changes are coming and the changes are no respecter of persons. it is the quality of a mans character and not his title that makes him the person that he is. and so so many in management have forgotten that yes they too are human just like everyone else. they have lost their humility. norral ![]() brother iz in this life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxLXmAiI6K4 |
