A power outage forced me and my partner out of his apartment in the Philippines where I am visiting and to the mall, we went to buy a battery-backed fan for the next outage and to escape the heat. The power cut worked out very well for this homeless man who we crossed paths with.

See the post for pictures and a description of what happened. This is one way we can heal the world, not simply in giving money which I do not have too much of at the moment, but time. It was great for him to tell his life story to us.

This is one thing that makes the service-to-others path well worth it.

That is touching. Maybe I'll be able to get chances to help like that and I won't fail.
I've given my food to strangers before who were asking for help.
And then many who asked for money I turned down.

It is always nice to help. I focus on the giving of your time to them, as well as the giving of food and/or money. As your time and an ear/friendliness to them can often have much more of a positive effect combined with the act of giving food, at least that is what I have found.
