Astrology - return of Saturn - Alexis - 09-28-2014 I don't have much experience with astrology, but Saturn completes it's orbit around the sun and the return of Saturn in terms of astrology means it is at it's exact position when you were born. The first return will be around the time you are 28-29, the second return will happen when you are about 59. You can calculate your dates here http://www.astrocal.co.uk/saturn-return.php I'm nearing the end of my first return of Saturn and I think a lot has happened for me within the past 9 months. I have reflected a lot on my relationships, my marriage, my friends, my family and especially being a mother. Did you find this period in your life meaningful? RE: Astrology - return of Saturn - Diana - 09-28-2014 The first Saturn return is usually life changing for everybody. If you think about people you know, they almost always go through change around the age of 28 to 30. I moved from NY to AZ and started working for myself, for instance, at that time. Some people even die or check out of life (I know 2 who did this) during the first Saturn return. Of course, that is not to say it is usual or indicated. The wisest thing to do is embrace the change. You are "coming into your own." After a childhood of growth and supervision, the teen years of emergence, and the twenties of discovery and emancipation, you can now decide or embrace what YOU want in your life. In my case, I never fit with the structures (one of Saturn's attributes) of being employed. I started freelancing and have done so since. So I set up my own structures concerning work and became very successful very quickly. Saturn is also "the father." It is the judge and authority figure. This is your opportunity to make yourself that in your life, and to free yourself from outside authority. It is a wonderful time of becoming. ![]() RE: Astrology - return of Saturn - Bluebell - 09-29-2014 How long can it last? RE: Astrology - return of Saturn - Jade - 09-29-2014 That depends on if/when Saturn retrogrades while it's crossing over your natal Saturn. I'd say anything under 5° within your natal Saturn will cause influence. If Saturn happens to retrograde while crossing your natal Saturn, it could prolong and maybe make you even repeat the lessons. According to the link posted, I will go into my first Saturn return December 2015 until September 2016. I cross referenced with my chart and it appears that site is going off a 2° orb conjunction. That will definitely be when it is most intense, but I could probably start feeling the effects rumbling within the next 6-8 mos or so. There is something also that happens right before the Saturn return (that is actually what is speculated causes the '27 club'): The first progressive lunar return happens at age 28. This sort of preps one for the initiative effects of the Saturn return - some people don't make it. It's been my observation that it will last as long as it lasts—until you make the changes you are going to make. It could last a year or two. What Jade said is the rule in astrology, and the outer planets can have even wider degrees of influence such as 10% out (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto). But I have a boyfriend right now, for instance, who has been experiencing this return for over a year, and is not through it yet. I went through it like it was a gift from the universe—fast and a great and positive experience. Others do not. It's individual. Thanks Jade. ![]() RE: Astrology - return of Saturn - Phoenix - 09-29-2014 Always seems to be a period of life change. Or re-alignment. I had a friend who basically had an enlightenment around this time. But I checked his chart and there was SO much going on. There were several very precise outer planet transits. My mother had me around this time. Which changed her life from career to family. Some women get a sudden strong urge to have kids around this time. The Saturn transit goes up and touches my natal Saturn and then retrogrades. So a long one is indicated for me. Soon enough Saturn will enter my 8th house, where natal Saturn is stationed. I remember making a joke to myself that that means lots of sex and getting a strong right ear ringing. Several planets are in my sixth house and there is a sort of 'philosophy' that I gravitate towards that includes sixth house ideas. But it is still just so weird. You use progressions a lot and positively? (09-29-2014, 12:36 PM)Diana Wrote: It's been my observation that it will last as long as it lasts—until you make the changes you are going to make. It's an interesting idea. Rather like what the person was saying about the Mayan Calendar on the other thread. That if the energy is set, then the person has to learn the lesson before it moves on. Natal Saturn trines my Sun and two conjuncting planets. I always hoped that a trine would make it relatively easy and perhaps I would have had to have worked through it beforehand and the Saturn will just give me an 'all clear ahead'. But... That's just a guess. I consider myself an amateur to intermediate at astrology at best, but I know many professional and long time astrologers will look at where planets have progressed as part of the whole chart. So while you were born with say as an example Saturn in the 5th house, but at this time in your life Saturn has progressed to your 6th house, it's just another way of looking at a crossed threshold in personality development. Natal planets = what you were born with Progressed planets = how those traits have evolved with the passage of time |
