6th Commandment - Thou Shalt Not Murder - caycegal - 01-15-2014 Does LOO shed any light on this commandment? I always thought it was "Thou shalt not kill," and now I find that the Hebrew said "Thou shalt not murder," and didn't mention killing in general. I am curious as to what perspective Ra would bring to this. RE: 6th Commandment - Thou Shalt Not Murder - Fang - 01-15-2014 It is interesting what original versions of historic texts are like, the bible especially so. Well, what Ra does say about the ten commandments is that they were products of Orion influence on Moishe (Moses), dressed up to appear positive but actually conveying a negative message. Do you want some sort of reconciliation of the texts or are you asking if Ra just talks about sixth commandment? Ra does not refer to that commandment specifically if the latter is the case. If the former; for a general Ra-esque (lol) approach to killing we would have to devise a set of ethics from the high commandment "all is one", which is quite a worthwhile thing to do really, lol RE: 6th Commandment - Thou Shalt Not Murder - Ankh - 01-15-2014 (01-15-2014, 09:14 AM)caycegal Wrote: Does LOO shed any light on this commandment? Ra said that commandments are negatively oriented: "16.15 Questioner: Can you tell me the origin of the Ten Commandments? Ra: I am Ra. The origin of these commandments follows the law of negative entities impressing information upon positively oriented mind/body/spirit complexes. The information attempted to copy or ape positivity while retaining negative characteristics." And as Don correctly assumes here - "Thou shall not" - does not follow the Law of One: "16.20 Questioner: It would be unlike an entity fully aware of the knowledge of the Law of One to ever say “Thou shalt not.” Is this correct? Ra: I am Ra. This is correct" However, there are some actions which, if carried out in manifestation, departs a bit from the Law of One: "We have found it to be inappropriate in the extreme to encourage the overcoming of any desires, except to suggest the imagination rather than the carrying out in the physical plane, as you call it, of those desires not consonant with the Law of One; this preserving the primal distortion of free will." RE: 6th Commandment - Thou Shalt Not Murder - Parsons - 01-15-2014 I have always resonated with this bit of the LOO about the commandments. In fact, long before I awoke I believed they were for the purpose of control. As for the word 'kill' vs 'murder', I believe that is most likely a translation issue. I have noticed several languages using slightly different meanings / usages for the same word. A perfect example is the word 'murder'. In Spanish, the literal translation for murder is 'muerta', but it is used differently. For instance, take 'dia de los muertos' means 'day of the dead'. But literally translated means 'day of the murdered'. However, that would have a very different meaning if translated literally. |
