Two Core Questions - Plenum - 10-15-2013

we know the ancient adage of - 'know thyself'.

we can dig deep into our personalities and our memories to try to understand who we are.

but as the tv show babylon5 so famously exemplified, one can turn this 'know thyself' premised into two basic questions which can fairly well summarize our current conscious relationship with our deeper self.

question one: who are you? which is what the Vorlons obsessively asked. Who are you indeed? are you the sum of your past life personalities, and somehow gaining access to those memories (hidden behind the veil) will help you to understand 'who you are' right now? do you identify as a Wanderer, and you are here to serve and assist humanity, and that is 'who you are'. Are you your job? are you your body and its various attributes? can you define yourself - 'who are you?' without resorting to temporary states of datapoints? who are you indeed Smile

and the second question: 'what do you want?' was posed by the shadows, who dwelt in the deep mind, and could see and sense many and all things, but what was their focal point? what did they want? what do you want? this question goes to the core of how we use our time, what we put our efforts into, what we hope and cherish, what we value. A simple answer to this question (along popular lines) would say - I want money, I want a life of ease, I want a beautiful spouse. But is that truly satisfying enough? Is there no deeper answer? and I do remember that I posed this question in its own thread, which received some great answers.

but these two core questions - who are you? and what do you want? they go to the heart of how we 'define' ourselves, and can quite easily change moment to moment. But when we are able to connect with ourselves in a deeper way, there are ways of finding answers to these two rather troubling and confronting questions; answers that stand across the span of time, and which we can adhere to and trust as a source of inspiration and firmness and clarity for how we conduct ourselves, and how we choose and decide our interactions in the wider society.

when we can come up with satisfactory answers to these two questions (answers that do not fluctuate and waver with mood, circumstance) we can approach life with that much a greater confidence and ease. It's like we are able to walk our life path (this current life path) with a clearer eye and direction.

so they are very much personal questions for the self, and not necessarily needed to be shared with the other. But the 'who are you?' and the 'what do you want' question will show itself clearly to tohers when you yourself have become very clear about it.

they are definitely questions worth pursuring Smile

Everything and life. Simple answers hehe. Living the questions "yourself" is the even simpler answer. Can't explore the mind without learning the body, we haven't even begun to explore our minds yet. We hold our self back through boundaries, in time to fuse together and individuate. Process is gradual, picking up speed all the time reaching new heights un-thought of before. In truth it's already ended, once you see that through living the meaning of it the play ends. We have already won.

For me, these kind of questions are gigantic anxiety triggers. Wheeeelp :p

I mean, I could say; I am that I am, or something else along those profound lines, but honestly, I have no idea what that means.
