Is the Subconscious Mind equivalent to the 'shadow'? - Plenum - 09-29-2013 in the following diagram, the first major partition in the 3d mind is the 'Veil' which cuts the conscious mind from the Unconscious Mind (in normal awareness). The 'unconscious' as understood by me includes all the 'roots of mind' that Ra speaks of; the personal unconscious, the racial memories, the planetary memories, etc etc. but within the Conscious Mind, I see a further partition: that of the 'Subconscious Mind' which contains all those things which are suppressed, avoided, or just too painful to deal with. These would include unprocessed traumas (unaccepted and unintegrated), and all the things we 'deny' about ourselves. It is there, having been brought through the Veil at some point, but it is not as yet included into the conscious state. - - I am wondering if this 'subconscious state of mind' would correspond to what most people refer to as the 'Shadow'. The subconscious here is the place from which all Projections take place; where we ascribe and accuse others of certain faults ... but they are really aspects of the self which have been suppressed and kept under wraps. because this suppressed material is on 'this side of the Veil' it is accessible and able to be utilised; but we only get glimpses of it when others act as mirrors to provoke these memories/qualities/attributes into being. it seems as though the more of this 'Shadow' one can clear, the closer the conscious can came to the veil, and the more likely one can get glimpses through it. this is just my current working model of the mind. Terms will be used by others in different ways, so I am interested in how you view this. of course, the Veil is semi-permeable, and material 'leaks' into the conscious mind through dreams, deep meditation, drugs, and random holes perhaps. ![]() "The activity of dreaming is an activity in which there is made a finely wrought and excellently fashioned bridge from conscious to unconscious." ![]() RE: Is the Subconscious Mind equivalent to the 'shadow'? - Marc - 09-29-2013 Check out Carl Jung's model of the mind. I've been studying his material lately and it's been very insightful. He has much insight into the shadow self and partitions on the mind. (And the names aren't important, the concepts they represent are. Everyone seems to call it different names but the concept remains the same.) RE: Is the Subconscious Mind equivalent to the 'shadow'? - Sagittarius - 09-29-2013 I think that's a good model, hadn't thought of it in that way before. RE: Is the Subconscious Mind equivalent to the 'shadow'? - Hototo - 09-29-2013 I would add a few addenums to the picture such as seeing it as a whole circle with the mind (deep mind) in the center and the concious mind outside and subconcious in the middle but only un-integrated parts of the subconcious as shadow and the intergrated parts of the subconcious as "faith" or "existence" and those spots of existence seen as galaxies spinning light outward from their center while the shadowpart should be seen as the dark blotches between galaxies spinning darkness out from their center. That way the proper framework of the purpose of each "blotch" of concious mind is seen. Such as out galaxy's purpose as a "blotch" of awareness. Hope that helps. I see the work as the result of green-ray being touched, which allows the self to become a mirror for itself. So orange and yellow imbalances are more readily seen reflected in the green of self-acceptance. RE: Is the Subconscious Mind equivalent to the 'shadow'? - xise - 09-29-2013 I think while we are pondering the unconscious and/or shadow that it is useful to realize that regardless of definitions, in 3d there will always be a STS shadow for the STO individual. However, I believe that as one balances more and more in 3d, the unconscious mind and/or shadow will no longer contain nonpolarizing imbalanced beliefs. I think it's important to mention this because I found that balancing imbalances non-polarizing beliefs is different than handling ones STS shadow. For me, I can often logically deduce that imbalanced nonpolarizing beliefs are not useful and to be discarded (random example: people should never get divorced for any reason - ths is not a STS or STO belief and at its base can be reasoned around). However, when dealing with the STS shadow, one cannot reason around it because STS philosophy has its own logic that makes sense and thus the balancing process involves much more heavily on pure acceptance of the belief as a part of you (ie you should never fall in love because that opens you up to pain). I have only discovered this recently and thus I wanted to share! |
