I use this website to figure out which House the New and Full Moons are in. Remember to change the month and year when using.

I will use the New Moon in Aries that is on April 1, 2022 to show you how to use the Guide to the Houses as mentioned above. Refer to the image of the Zodiacs. Don't pay attention to the numbers, this will just confuse you. My Star sign is Pisces and my Rising (ascendant) sign is Taurus. Begin with the New or Full Moon. In this case we begin in Aries and count counterclockwise. So for this New Moon phase my 2nd House is Pisces and 12th House is in Taurus. New and Full Moon phases are typically 15 days so for the next 2 weeks my life will revolve around the 2nd House and the 12th House.

The next phase is a Full Moon in Libra. So I begin at Libra and again count counterclockwise beginning with Libra. Beginning April 16, my Star sign will be in the 8th House and my Rising sign will be in the 6th House.



Working with the houses is a close prediction of things to come in your future. It is not exact because the topics are general and not specific. For example, the 3rd House mentions neighbors. Does this refer to neighbors you are aware of or will observe? When this House came up in the past year, my teenage female neighbor from across the street who I have never met personally broke out in tears. The police arrived to counsel her. My next door neighbor went out to see what the problem was but then realized he couldn't help. I think the teenage girl was crying because of a break-up but I only observed this from the comfort of my home. I never found out what the problem was really about. So when working with the Houses think about whether this is something that will happen to you personally or something you will observe.

My absolute favorite Astrology text is called The Archetypal Universe by Renn Butler. It is essentially an archetypal cookbook, and in that sense it is a reference book too.

The first part goes over all the planetary pairs and how their archetypal energies co-mingle with each other. Soooo.... Mercury-Pluto, Uranus-Mars, Sun-Venus, etc. Butler goes deep on each pair, highlighting the archetypal energies, dream images, shadow sides, etc.

Then at the end of the book, he covers planetary triads, so.... Mercury-Sun-Uranus, stuff like that.

I use this book a lot in my study/practice of astrology. I like how it's not really imbued with any one tradition. In that sense it really gets to the essence of what I feel astrology is all about, which is the archetypes.

Apart from Renn's book, I love Robert Hand's Horoscope Symbols (a bit denser than what I'm used to but I like his writing style) and Steven Forrest's the Inner Sky is a classic introduction.
