Watercolor portrait painting - YinYang - 10-04-2021

I’ve decided to try my hand at watercolor lately, and since watercolour has a mind of its own, it’s been quite a challenge to create the desired results.

Been practicing some techniques, and now I’m finally ready to attempt my seagull painting.

But while I was checking out some other watercolor artists online, I discovered this South Korean artist who’s talent actually leaves me speechless! His English name is Jung Hun-Sung, although he signs all his Youtube videos in Korean - 수채화

He’s so easy and relaxed with the brush, that it reminds me of the Taoist concept of Wu-Wei (effortless action). He's truly is in a league of his own.

Wow. Such talent. I have never seen such use of layering in watercolor. The artist has such control over wet on dry and dry on wet and wet on wet and not overworking it considering all that layering. Really inspiring and beautiful. Smile

Have fun painting. Please post something you do!

...oh yeah... and since I've been practicing all these techniques you mention, I can tell you he makes it look pretty easy. I find with watercolor you have to relax and relinquish some control, which is what makes it such a unique medium.

He-he, if it's not a humongous flop, I'll post it! It's also quite "meditative" I find, you enter this zone and it's so relaxing.
