george steinbrenner and lawrence taylor - norral - 07-15-2010
george steinbrenner the new york yankee owner passed away this week
at the age of 80. known as the boss he had a tremendous drive to win
and transformed a stagnant yankee franchise into possibly the most
successful sports team in the world. george was known as the boss
and he was demanding, at times irrational with his drive to win. he also
had a big heart and helped many many people. he genuinely cared about
people and this week many people came forth with stories about how
george acutally helped others.
lawrence taylor was possibly the greatest defensive player football has
ever seen. he was a tremendous talent who revolutionized the game
of football and became the prototype for the new defensive player.
he also was a drug addict and was in and out of trouble his whole career.
i never have really heard any stories whatsoever of taylor going out
of his way to help others. the same day steinbrenner died taylor was
indicted for having sex with a 16 year old. taylor is in his 50's.
both men had tremendous abilities in their chosen field however
one used his skills to help others and the other basically used his
skills to help himself. i thought it was an interesting parallel
