i feel you when i suffer
i feel you in my pain

i know that all is well
what seems like loss is gain

learning about patience
through bodily limitation

but that won't keep me down
for my essence lives in elation

my worth is not related
to the daily tasks i do

what counts comes from the heart
i know this to be true

my faith is being tested
as is my strength of will

much comes to the surface
when your forced to be still

when sitting is intolerable
when walking's no longer fun

it's hard to lie around
and not feel like a bum

so this is where i'm at
the crossroads of a lesson

i could resist and struggle
but i trust that it's a blessing

purify our hearts
purify our minds

help us see Creator
in all of humankind

for we are each a facet
of that which we call 'source'

from atoms up to galaxies
is the same animating force

our lives here are a paradox
being both unique and the same

only a grand intelligence
could conjure up this game

let's trust there is a reason
for all we experience

in an infinite creation
we each add some variance

the birds must know of wellness
why else would they sing?

to each and every moment
their full hearts they do bring

in fact all of nature knows this
only humans have been left out

for we're the only creatures
that would ever raise a doubt

where has gone our trust?
and how do we get it back?

mother nature is so plentiful
yet somehow we've created lack

our veiled minds must be the reason
that we've strayed off track

from faith we make our choices
like walking in pitch black

the greatest thing that we can do
is to respond with love

no matter what the circumstance
always choosing love

difficulties they will come
how else would we be tested?

when life is peachy and going well
our growth can get arrested

challenges are really gifts
revealing where we can grow

when obstacles arise
it's wise to take them slow

spend the time to go within
your heart is there to guide you

it may be hard but i promise
you will always make it through

whatever life gives to you
receive with open hands

accept each moment's gift
don't make any demands

loosen up your grip
release all that you can

share your love equally
like a rotating fan

resistance will do nothing
but lead you from your joy

embracing all that happens
is the method to employ

perfection comes with practice
at least that's what they say

if you feel you've made an error
there will come another day

if i know anything at all
it is simply this

no matter how deeply we fall
we will return to bliss

for we can't escape our nature
as hard as we may try

underneath our suffering
love's in infinite supply

our task is to stay open
to be channels of the divine

life itself is the miracle
not turning water into wine

is it not incredible?
this existence that we share

so much goes on unnoticed
with each breath of fresh air

i will persevere
through all trials and tribulations

and when the end is near
i will receive my congratulations

for to live a life on earth
takes much courage and some folly

we all knew coming here
would be anything but jolly

it was the sorrow that called us
we hoped in some way to ease

our incarnation is our answer
to the many prayers and pleas

a vibrational upliftment
a subtle shift in thought

if we don't pierce the veil
there's a risk of getting caught

love is a faithful companion
who will be forever at your side

your may think that you walk alone
as you take stride after stride

but the beloved is always with you
inspiration is but a breath away

angels rest upon your shoulders
if you ask they will guide the way

i seek to know the truth
so i can be of service

no doubt it won't be found
by looking upon the surface

one must dig real deep
for the treasure that i'm after

like the sweet and healing sound
that comes from belly laughter

so i ask, "what does not change?"
what underlies all states?

i follow the roots of mind
to where my heart awaits

i feel i'm getting closer
i ask, "what's always new?"

divisions start to blur
when perception is true

identify with that

release self perceived errors

the present moment is complete
a source of love that is replete

it's in need of no addition
one can't prepare with an audition

spontaneous like a child at play
into the unknown's the only way

if you want to find out who you are
stick to the moment like a pit of tar

illusion does not mean that you do not exist
illusion simply points to what does not persist

the illusion of maya is about impermanence
through all comings and goings is a changeless presence

that is what you are...that's what makes you real
not the surface thoughts and emotions that you feel

find that zero point where balanced is all life
then you will know peace in both easy times and strife

isn't the feeling of unity what we are all longing?
