Final Fantasy is one of my all-time favourite series.
I swear that game holds alot of topics that are worth noting, especially about the power of crystals.
I've played all the way up to FFXIII-2, and my favourites are FFVII, FFX, and the 13 series.

Ah yes Final Fantasy! Such great games.
I used to game a lot growing up, I wasn't allowed to while the sun was shining though so i'd get up early (like, real early) in the morning and play while everyone was still asleep. I hardly game at all these days though I have been occasionally hitting up rayman origins. Games just don't interest me anymore really, I'm not sure if it has to do with spiritual seeking or just ol' apathy lol

I just got into Age of the Empires II and used about 24hrs of my life on that in the last week. Made me consider if it was becoming a tool of distraction and sleep... The desire to play games has now fallen away for a while.

Aoe2 is a great multiplayer rts! The re-release has me wondering if I should play it. So fun to build your nation in the stone age and into bronze, iron, all the way to modern...

Less, though this is more a conscious effort on my part to move towards that which is a lesser 'distraction'. I don't place any lesser value on games entertainment wise however, as it is a unique experience it's own right.
There are a few franchises that I thoroughly enjoy and that I will play. I'm still pretty much into the Zelda, GTA, Bioshock and Mass Effect Series for example.
Games on the whole tend to anaesthetise folk from daily reality and provide a distraction. I can't particularly see a circumstance where it would readily assist in an expansion of ones awareness.

i've used to play Civilization 4 til 2-3 weeks ago. i've enjoyed it so far. however as completely done with it, i ceased playing it.

I have had a few 'bouts' of gaming in the last 6 years; where I will just drop-out of the world for a few weeks (usually 3-5 weeks or so) and just indulge in whatever games I get my hands on. These 'bouts' are not too frequent; perhaps once a year, or maybe once every 18 months. But I go pretty full-on.
for me personally (and there are many many reasons to game) I think it was an orange-ray related issue ... to do with personal power and effectiveness ... and I would retreat to games when things got too out of hand in real life ... but that's just my understanding of it, and the way I used games. Like television, there are many ways of using that 'gadget'; some beneficial, some benign, and some for escape.
games are cool; but I don't feel anywhere near as much attraction to them as I once did. I still remember the old Space Quests and Hero's Quests lol. Eye of the Beholder. Pools of Radiance. haha. Get me a time machine!

I would say more, but that should change. I can't really see it remaining the same.
But the reason I play games is in part to escape daily responsibilities, and it's a well-travelled path of solace in my brain circuitry, starting waay before any spiritual endeavors on my part. Whenever I have too much stress, several hours of gaming seems to fix the problem. M y gaming habits are a bit too much by most standards - while I can be productive and do my part as an undergrad, I definitely exceed the daily recommended amount. Why? Not sure. But besides the dopamine from videogames, there must be a spiritual part.
So my understanding is that some games fuel the orange-ray. There's a lot of satisfaction at mastering a certain competitive game and consistently winning by your own crazy skills (and more than a touch of luck, or even prescience?) - ex. Scoutzknivez maps in Counterstrike, where at one point I was able to hold my own against all but the very best, and even then I managed the occasional kill. Speaking of orange-ray, I think that Ra did state that videogames (of the time of the contact, 1980s), could be seen as developing the orange ray energies. Now we've gone far past those old games, technologically, and many others offer entertainment of a very different order. For example, city management sims. If you've never played Tropico 4, it's worth a try - build your own island, raise everyone's happiness, and make colossal amounts of money as a result. Or be a despot (which I never had to do). Different paths, different energies - although ultimately you're still trying to win against the environment and rules of the game.
It's a pretty interesting topic for me - videogames and their potential. I think there's plenty to explore, and knowing about Law of One and having studied psychology, religion (a bit) and philosophy (a bit), I can hope that the future has videogames that can significantly help us with our personal evolution. For me, though, I know I play in excess.

Don't know if I posted this before, but I used to play old NES games like Super Mario Bros and Zelda I and II, and Sega Genesis games like Sonic the Hedgehog.

I used to be judgmental about my gaming in the past.
These days, I totally accept that I'm a gamer.
I love single player strategy and simulation games for the creativity involved in making a masterpiece design of civilization or spaceship - whether Civilization or Master of Orion or Sim City.
I love multi-player fps for the adrenaline rush and for the unique communication that takes place with anonymous other-selves in competitive settings (drama!). Counter-strike, Battlefield.
I love story-based roleplaying games where you craft a story about a character, make decisions that affect the world and your character. Dragon Age. Currently Banner Saga.
For me, the Ra material's comment on gaming resonates more with a description of pacman or modern day iphone games rather than with the way I interact with games.
And don't get me wrong, I love many social and outdoor activities, but when it comes to time by myself indoors, other than reading, the occasional netflix marathons, or sometimes painting, I completely and wholly enjoy gaming. It takes you to other places, and it's simply beautiful to explore many of these deeply intricate and crafted worlds.
I love gaming. It's an awesome hobby. I'm so glad I have it.
Edit: But even if the above is distraction (although I believe distraction/avoidance and just leisure time are different and distinguishable - fun is a part of the incarnative experience!!), I'm ok with that. I'm not here to force/control fake spiritual progress. If it falls away naturally, then I'll let it fall away. All I know is that I continue to balance myself, and it is a wonderful journey
