What are your limits when you control belief, rather than letting belief control you? Like he was seriously going to hurt me for walking by? I can't exclude that possibility. Although, it's pretty hard to describe the situation in such a brief text. Anyway, it was a good thing. I need to work on handling my fear and deflecting in just before it breaks out. I'm not sure what you are getting at. Please expand. I would suggest that limitation is the result of an attempt to control. Therefore whomever believes that they are in control of something is actually allowing themselves to be controlled by it and under some form of delusion. Belief does not dispel delusion; only truth can dispel delusion. I can pick and choose whatever belief I like, but I have seen that this sort of gross "control" can interfere with the natural evolution of belief where each belief pattern serves as a framework or scaffolding for the next, and discarded when it no longer serves a purpose. So in trying to "skip ahead" to a particular belief pattern that I perceive to be the "best and highest" I have had to go back and recapitulate the steps in between that I previously missed. Not necessarily a "bad" thing but somewhat of a circuitous route I think... RE: Why are you scared? - BrownEye - 02-26-2012 I do not attempt to "control" my beliefs. I only have a drive to expand. Quite simply if I thought at one moment that "this was the answer" it would be the same as stopping because I am content. Stopping because of a "limit". Chances are we will find no "truth" other than on a personal level, which is only perspective. I live in quite a small town, so it was quite amazing that I passed them directly outside my house. Only when I passed them I could hear one man say "fucking little kid..", and the girl beside kept saying "no, no NOO!" Like he was seriously going to hurt me for walking by? Until the world changes, there are situations like this. I suggest you learn some self-defense (not so you can hurt someone, so you can defend yourself). At a certain point when I was training in martial arts, I lost all fear of attack. I simply don't have it now. So I never even have to analyze as you did or find a way to forgive. No bad feelings of any sort radiate from me because I am detached--and there is nothing to forgive because I don't become afraid. When you wrote: Pickle Wrote:What are your limits when you control belief, rather than letting belief control you? I had thought you might be implying that you attempt to control belief. Yes- I would concur that it appears no sooner than one "truth" is grasped that the next one appears off in distance of one's spiritual vista. Yet there are certain absolute truths that can be ascertained from within the illusion. For example, that everything is connected. There are those who believe that they are somehow set apart from the rest of creation. There are those who view themselves as the sole author of their experience. These are the types of delusions I was referring to earlier. Believing one is separate does not actually make one separate, it just makes one delusional. RE: Why are you scared? - Ankh - 02-27-2012 Dentists!!! I am scared of dentists!! Had traumatic experiences in the past, and have been scared of them ever since. That plus all the scary stories friends usually start to tell you, when they know that you are scared of something, is not helpful... Well, wish me luck today! ; ) |
