I had recently got a new bicycle so that I can begin commuting the 6 miles to work. I went out today to do a 6-mile run (3 out and back) on it. On my last mile to go, I was hit by such a strong wind that I couldn't continue riding. So I walked the rest of the way back, actually able to take a shortcut through a field that I hadn't taken on my way out.
While I was walking, I looked the bike over and had noticed that the rear fender had come loose, making it not ridable anyway. I'm not sure if the wind had caused that fender to come lose, but it's most likely as it was a strong wind. Looking back, there are gusts up to 35 mph, and on a bicycle this is something. It was also a cold front.
I live in San Antonio, so I can't complain since we don't even have snow. Well, I actually laughed it off when I thought of being winded.
