the registering and recognition of Reactivity is one of the most powerful tools for self-integration. In fact, through the mechanism of projection (identifying some characteristic of behaviour as being of the 'other person' rather than in the self) we can most easily see those aspects of the self that are most in need of integration at the current moment.

words, too, can also trigger these reactivities.

I remember when I first saw the word 'self hate' in a forum post on bring4th. (it was in reference to 'self hating vegetarians', apologists basically); this really set me off. Not in the context of the debate, or in respect to vegetarians, but the concept of 'self hate' as triggered by seeing this word just blinded me. How could someone be so unloving and use such a word? that is just totally wrong! now irrespective of the person who used it, or what their intentions were, or the relevance in ths discussion, this was of no matter. The import of what took place was like someone had HIGHLIGHTED that one word on the page ('self hate') and magnified it to 44 size font size - like HUGE. It was like out of the background on 1000's of words on screen, this one word took precedence. And so is the nature of catalyst and reality ... what we react to in the world takes on a Magnific Storyline and is the Size of a Jupiter from just inches away. We cannot see anything else in proportion when the blinding nature of Catalyst calls our attention. (think of depression, or severe grief); catalyst is total and capturing; it withdraws the attention of the mind into one thing.

and we can use this catalyst/reactivity to our benefit. To integrate that which is seen as being 'outside' and acknowledging where lack of integration is.

a chart such as this can set off trigger words quite easily:

these are just words on a page, context free. Any projection we make can only be our own; we cannot ascribe it to 'another' having a go at us, or trying to criticise us ... any storylines we construct around these charged words can only be us reacting to emotions/memories within us.

This is a really useful chart. Our emotional nature is very right brained. This chart is so useful and balancing because it helps to conceptualize feelings, and thereby use the left brain which is balancing for our strong emotions.

    Thanks Plenum!
