I ran across this reference in an article on the New Scientist website. Unfortunately, I'm not subscribed to New Scientist. So I can't retrieve the article "Whatever Happened to Starlite?"

Starlite being a radically new polymer that can stand the heat of a nuclear blast unfazed. I googled it and found the following 2009 article referenced on the wiki page.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/51...world.html

Its a fascinating read. Here is a material that could literally change the world and its been all but squashed by big business interests and the eccentricities of the inventor...and greed.

Wonder how many other marvelous inventions are on lay-away due to pure greed.

    a.... crapload.
For starters, just look at the list of declined patent permissions.

'A lot of people have been saying that I'm a rotten prat and that I'm greedy and I should give it to the world.'
Downfall of the majority of groundbreaking inventions is due to the inventors greed...... and then he died.
But luckily, this guy isnt dead yet.
