Laughter certainly helps with remaining centered. The more you try to open the higher centers without focusing on the blissful experience of being here and now, you will feel like you are being pulled apart. It's good advice to not take life too seriously.

Also 'Life' is many things. And the majority of our day is spent taking our job etc seriously. I think the fact that one exists is a bit contradictory and humorous
