I had a rather liberating experience this morning.
about 10 years ago I was in conflict with my fathers brother. a few years later I worked at a wedding he was attending and we came to terms and hugged it out. a couple of years ago his mother died and as we left the funeral ceremony we did not say much, we just embraced each other in mutual understanding.
I had not thought about the incident that distorted our friendship all those years ago for a long time, thought it was all past and done.
This morning, for some reason the memory of our conflict surfaced and I relived it. As the situation of what we had said to each other played out, I changed my dialog. I told him it was ok and even if we are not friends right now, we will return to our state of mutually respectful friendship in the future. My sense of reconciliation with him found a new level.
This made me realize this could be applied to anyone we are presently in conflict with, or unresolved conflict from the past. as we are all essentially family, we will at some point reconcile and heal our eternal bond, if not in physical life, after physical life. But why wait until physical death in embracing the notion of zero frequency drama?
