Just checked out of the ER and IMO, was made a fool of.

I lifted weights on Sunday. It was intense since I didn't do that workout in quite a while. It was a Body Beast workout and I was doing "Bulk Arms". Punishing, but I wouldn't say I "overdid it" w/10/15/20/25 lbs dumbbells.

Of course I had pain in both arms afterwards which was nothing unexpected. But Wednesday, my left arm started to swell up. Now, I've done all these workouts before and I'm like "hmm this is new" so I told my mom about it and she looked it since she was a nurse. She gave me an ice pack and some Motrin. I'm like cool.

So today and as I type this, the swelling still hasn't subsided. You can definitely tell my left arm is bigger than my right. Though the pain has greatly subsided, the swelling hasn't and I'm still scared.

I'm reading up on "Rhabdomyolysis" and it can be life threatening. I read this article http://fitfeat.com/blog/2011/06/03/rhabd...read-this/

Now I start freaking out!! I had all the symptoms except dark urine and again, my muscles never swelled up like this after my workouts. So I told my boss and my mom and roomie and my bro-in-law who is an EMT that I'm going to the ER.

So I get there to the ER and explain myself, and the ladies there in admissions just f*ckn laugh. I'm like "WHOA!!" and schooled them on what it was and that I could go into kidney failure.

The doctor sees me, I explained what happened as best as I could, and they give me a test to test for clots. That was it. They found no clots and they let me go. I think I should have had a blood test to check my CK (creatine kinase) levels. They said it was probably just a sprain and gave me a referral to an orthopedic surgeon.

I wouldn't be in a f****n ER room if I had just a sprain!!!!!!!! An arm just doesn't swell up 3 days after a workout. Even the disclaimer for Body Beast says that rhabdomyolysis could occur from it.

Any left arm pain in combination with an anxiety is grounds for immediate semi-permanent hospitalization.

Tests I'd do is a blood panel(for infection and muscle destruction values), infection(are there any hidden infections, bug bites, or ticks), ekg(are you having a psychotic episode), rest ekg(is your personality divided into two because of backpains), polysomnography (Is your dream self so separated from your waking self that...), spinal x-ray (Is there a pinched nerve), glucose tests (Is your kidney (parents and children) or your liver (friends and co-workers and doctors) putting out nothing but butt, defecography (it all comes down to poo and radiation, but seriously now, very few better ways to see how you contract your muscles and where the problem is...), Hernias (are all the internal organs inside the muscles or have you pushed a part of your internal organs outside of your muscles which would cause blood flow issues), Hemoroidal test (Are you just popping your eyes out of your head by all that squeezing).

After that I'd probably settle on it being overwork prescribe 3 days of observed rest with hydration and a recommendation for immediate return if arm pain persists or is added with a symptom of indescribable tiredness, crankyness or back or neck pain as these are a dead giveaway for a heart attack, either in you or in someone you love.

I'm just going to wait it out. God forbid I'll look even more stupid by challenging conventional mainstream medicine  by ordering a blood test.

As of this morning, it's still a bit swollen and hurts compared to the right arm. The only other option I have is to wait for my pee to become a dark colored type, but by then it could be too late.

Its ok. I've already made my peace with myself if I go because of something stupid like this but it took over 2 hours for me just to go to sleep last night and now I have to work a 12 hour shift at work. Ridiculous.

It is your choice, I would advice medical observation on account of suicidal ideation.

But I wish you the best with this distressing situation and offer my services, such as they are, to help you get over this hard period in your life.

    So, are you alive?

Left arm swelling after a hard workout. Have you considered symbolism?

I recently broke a bone in my hand from colliding with a fast moving car, riding my bike at night. I interpret it partly as creating a handicap in my service to others, and accepting myself to be dependent on help from others. I believe our experience is an analogy of the infinite.

Do you wish to share your interpretation, if you have one on your situation?

Yes I'm alive thank you! False alarm I guess but I'm still wondering why my arm swelled up.
