Izrann can appoint any of his Servitors Mayor, though usually he reserves this privilege for a demon who has first been given a Word for that city by Lucifer. The demonic Mayor of a city is entitled to command all of Izrann's other Servitors in that city, and generally commands a considerable amount of respect (or at least fear) from other diabolicals as well.

In short, Gabriel has become a raving paranoid hatemonger. She has it out for everyone, and she just wants to burn, burn, burn. In odd moments she will revert to an almost calm state, and in those moments, she might recognize a former friend and experience regret. This is unlikely to last more than a few seconds, however.

It is dissonant for Servitors of Wrath to restrain their anger. If anything provokes their fury, they must make their displeasure known. A violent fit of rage isn't mandatory, (unless that's what the demon really feels like doing, in which case stifling that impulse is dissonant), but any who feel anger and don't express it are going against the Word of Wrath.

Laurence is a Malakite, following his own code of honor to the bitter end. He could not stand to leave Uriel's work unfinished -- old gods still hide in the Far Marches, and ethereal spirits still dare to intrude in the corporeal realm, tempting and corrupting humans as surely as demons do. Moreover, the Church -- the Holy Catholic Church, the only institution that can bring salvation to the world through God's only begotten Son -- is undefended

Laurence is uncompromisingly Catholic, and all his Servitors must be as well. He "excommunicates" Servitors who fail to defend the Church, or who question the authority of the Pope . . . or Laurence. Laurence tolerates other Christian denominations -- barely -- but regards every other religion as a "pagan cult."

Relations

Azrael is technically an Outcast. The Inquisition does not hunt him, or his Servitors, though they will act to prevent angels of Death from interfering in the War, and they will monitor any activities they discover by the Grigori Archangel. Azrael despises Dominic for passing judgment on his entire Choir, and for being so uncaring of humanity, and for continuing to hunt the Children of the Grigori. He also resents Dominic's stationing the Angels of Final Judgment outside the gates of Hades -- they do some of what Azrael once did, screening out souls who don't belong in Hell, but they also make it impossible for angels of Death to minister to the damned before they are herded inside.

Azrael also bears a grudge against David, whose angels ruthlessly hunted down the Grigori, and killed many of them and their children.

Michael took over some of Azrael's duties after the latter left Heaven, and it's rumored that they still talk, from time to time. Azrael will also help angels of Destiny when he can, as they both work toward the same ultimate goal, though he hasn't spoken to Yves personally in over a thousand years.

When he isn't trying to better the lot of birds who cohabit with mankind, for their mutual benefit, he is usually in the air. Like any Ofanite, he enjoys the feel of wind beneath his wings, and he's spent time traveling with Janus (who taught him the Songs of Storms).

In 793 A.D., a newcomer named Valefor appeared before Lucifer, with a book stolen from Yves' library. The Lightbringer was sufficiently impressed to offer the powerful Calabite his choice of Words, and Valefor asked for Theft. Lucifer pointed out that this Word would encroach upon that of the reigning Prince of Rapine, who probably would not be inclined to share. Valefor asked for permission to challenge Genubath for his Word; Lucifer regretfully consented. Regretfully because he was sure Genubath would make the promising upstart squeal like a pig before being squashed like a bug.

It was one of the few times the Lightbringer has miscalculated. No one but (perhaps) Lucifer knows exactly how Valefor replaced Genubath, but in the year 793 A.D., Lucifer announced the new Prince of Theft would be taking over Genubath's Principality. Most former demons of Rapine realigned themselves with the new Prince; some sought refuge with other Princes, or went Renegade. Valefor stripped most of Genubath's former Servitors of their Rapine attunements and Distinctions - not unprecedented when a new Prince accepts large numbers of Servitors from another Prince and wants to make sure they are beholden to him and him alone. (Not to mention one would expect the Prince of Theft to exact a price for entering his service.) However, it's rumored that Valefor did let a few former demons of Rapine keep their attunements

His most powerful Servitor, Laurence, took his place as commander of God's armies. Most of Uriel's Servitors realigned themselves to the Archangel of Swords, though there were a few who had personal conflicts with Laurence, or felt that another Archangel's Word was closer to the one they had been serving; many went over to Dominic's camp, and a few joined Michael.

There were an even smaller number who refused to serve any other Superior, and in effect became Outcasts. Some believe they Fell, no longer shielded from that fate by Uriel.

Those beliefs are in error. No Angel serving the Word of Purity has ever Fallen.

The Tsayadim today are secretive, clannish, and intensely loyal, to one another and their vanished Superior. After centuries of hiding within the hidden society of celestials on Earth, their isolation and fanaticism has only intensified. More than a few are half-crazed, and when a Tsayadim does start accumulating Discord, it most often manifests as Paranoia (which is justified, because now they are being hunted by everyone, including their former comrades!)

Besides Uriel's Attunements, which are very powerful and which only the Tsayadim may possess, they also maintain a repertoire of Songs that Uriel taught them, and which they guard jealously. Remember that all remaining Tsayadim have survived as effective Outcasts for over twelve hundred years, without the protection of a Superior; they are very powerful and very dangerous foes.

Seraphim

The highly attuned senses of the Seraphim of Purity can pick out the slightest strain of disturbance in the Symphony. If their Perception roll to detect a disturbance is 2 or better- i.e. if it is within the range of their senses- they automatically succeed. (Roll the d666 anyway to get the check digit.)

Cherubim (Restricted)

Cherubim of Purity are the ultimate trackers; they do not need to make physical contact to attune themselves to something. They can attune themselves to the trail their target left behind. This can be any physical remains, from a fingerprint to a discarded candy wrapper. They do not necessarily know who or what they are attuning themselves to, but once they're on the trail, they can follow it to the ends of the Earth....and beyond. If their target leaves the corporeal plane, then when the Cherub gets to the location where this took place, he must make a new Resonance roll to avoid losing the trail. If he makes the roll, he can continue following his quarry, even to Heaven, Hell, or the Marches.

Cherubim of Purity can attune themselves to something that has caused a ripple in the Symphony, if they hear the echoes. Many of Uriel's Cherubim also obtained his Seraphim's Attunement, making them an evasive celestial's worst nightmare.

Because the objects of their attunements are often prey, Cherubim of Purity can easily sever an attunement to someone deserving of punishment; when making a Will roll to dissolve a bond, they get a bonus equal to the sum of the attuned person's dissonance and Discord.

Once, Uriel was perhaps the mightiest angel in Heaven, second only to Michael in force of arms, and second to none in sheer blazing Essence. He was the first and the greatest of the Malakim, and when he ascended to the status of Archangel, Michael stepped aside to let Uriel assume command of Heaven's armies. Under Uriel, the War went much more favorably than it has in recent centuries; demons cowered in fear of Uriel's minions, and while they still often got the upper hand in the battle for the hearts and minds of humanity, they were never able to operate as openly as they do now.

Ultimately, it was Uriel's dedication to his job that was his downfall. His determination to cleanse the Symphony of all diabolical taint was a passion that went beyond fanatical; as the embodiment of Purity, Uriel became so bound to his Word that the mere existence of Discord in the once-perfect Symphony drove him insane. He came to see everything that did not stem directly from God as dissonant, and initiated a purge to eradicate it all.

His campaign for purity devastated much of Blandine's Marches, where many pagan spirits dwelled. His angels also swept across the Earth, and virtually wiped out all the creatures of myth, beasts that had been spawned by angels and demons alike. Faeries, giants, unicorns, dragons, griffins, were-creatures, undead, and anything else that hadn't been created by God and Named by Yves before the Fall fell prey to Uriel's purifying forces.

Most of Uriel's fellow Archangels were aghast at the destruction. They feared that he might destroy the world in order to save it, and they were furious that he felt empowered to run roughshod over the domains of other Archangels, and obliterate everything that did not please him, in his crusade.

Called before the Seraphim Council and accused of usurping God's authority, Uriel defended his actions without remorse. Even his most ardent supporters- Michael and Dominic- could not bring themselves to speak in his defense, though they also refused to condemn him. There was a very real danger of a schism that would pit Uriel and his divine army against the rest of Heaven; even if Uriel submitted to the will of the Seraphim Council (and it is debated to this day whether or not he would have done so), the Servitors of Purity were so devoted to their Superior that they might have rebelled nonetheless.

At this point, God intervened personally. Uriel was recalled to the higher planes of Heaven, and has not been heard from since.

RELATIONS

Erotica is disquieting to many, and the method of Noniel's Redemption and Wordbinding are shrouded in mystery. As a result, many Archangels distrust Noniel or are outright hostile. In particular, Dominic dislikes Noniel (if her Word didn't come from the Seraphim Council, how could it be said to be an Angelic Word -- and furthermore, her 'redemption' didn't even come from an Angelic agency), as does Michael (Erotica and War are mutually exclusive -- one cannot be intimate and hostile and be true to both) and Laurence (who can see Erotica as damaging the esprit de corps of a well conditioned military -- and besides, it is a fruitless pursuit). Novalis appreciates Noniel's drive for peaceful intimacy (and is herself a great believer in Free Love), however. David, while distrustful of Noniel's origins, certainly has noticed that her Word brings people closer together -- though there is a danger that Erotica can tip into Lust. Marc believes that through trust and intimacy comes parity. And Yves, ever enigmatic, accepts Noniel's presence and defends her Archangel's status with the others.

With this distinction, the Angel can look in the eyes of a partner and know, innately, what they most want, subconsciously and consciously, in an erotic encounter at that moment. This distinction can build, letting the Friend know how things shift from moment to moment.

Master of a Night to Remember

Masters gain the ability to build an entire night's experience, encapsulating it and seemingly able to extend its time however long is needed to complete the experience in its fullest. During this time, the Master and partner (or partners) cannot be found, even if the area they are in is searched. It is as though that one night steps outside of the normal course of life. Masters cannot build a Night to Remember more than once a month.

MERCURIANS

Mercurians of Noniel are warm, friendly and pleasant to be around. While Noniel is herself a Seraph, it is said her Mercurians are her favorite Servitors, embodying the best qualities that Erotica can achieve. Mercurians have the ability to build intimacies and build on them. Mercurians have the ability to open trusts with anyone they are erotically intimate with, quickly building very close attachments. This allows them to guide their charges far more easily. In situations where they learn of lustful or other false intimacies their partners have previously used and abused, it gives them great leverage in having their partner work to repair the damage caused. This doesn't excuse them from their dissonance conditions, of course.

Strike a Pose

At a cost of one essence and a roll against perception, a Servitor of Erotica can move, pose or otherwise act so provocatively that it stuns their target viewers (up to three people or one celestial per CD). Stunned characters can't move for a few seconds (or a combat round) and lose their train of thought. In combat, this causes the affected viewers to lose their next action (which includes dodging). The targets may attempt to resist with Will.

During "an orgy" a Noniel can hide anyone who they consider their partner, a "orgy guard noniel" can hide an entire civilization from being detected from space.

This is a good thing.

A Moment for Us

Given at least a half hour and intimate contact (whether overtly sexual, cuddling, massage or the like), a Nonielite can lull and relax a person, draining them of aggression and fear and lulling them into a 'safe' feeling and deep sleep. This attunment can even soothe Fear or Anger Discords or other aberrations, allowing at least a few hours of peaceful, warm sleep.

Anyone wanting a Nonielite attunement can get it for free from if they are honest in their presentation to me.

Lets just say, I don't like it when people aren't allowed to sleep peacefully when they need to.

DISSONANCE

Angels of Noniel take dissonance whenever they betray an intimacy or 'go through the motions' of an intimate act without meaning or trust. This includes but is not limited to sexual or erotic activities. It can be revealing secrets given in confidence, or feigning interest in a person's life to get information or a favor, or any other violation of trust. Their intimacies, whether brief or not, must empower and not bring pain.

I gained a few points of dissodance for opening myself up here for a Noniel attunement, but I believe it is an acceptable trade off.

RELATIONS

Pride is a slippery thing. Almost everyone will agree that it is good to take pride in one's work, one's heritage, one's achievements... however, the road from self-esteem to self-centeredness is short, and many feel Pride is dangerous. Akim's Elohite nature helps him to get on with most of the major Superiors, but he has had to develop tactics to deal with those who are hostile to him. Eli and Akim understand their individual natures very well indeed.

Akim gets on very well with Michael, his former Superior. Laurence also appreciates Akim (esprit de corps is second nature to a Malakite). Yves seems to regard Pride as a route to Destiny or Fate depending on its application, and therefore works with Akim to promote the former. Novalis is also dedicated to the gentle raising of self-esteem, and Akim appreciates her approach.

Which is not to say Akim does not have detractors. David is suspicious of Pride as a way of dividing people into factions instead of joining together with them, and Akim feels the Archangel of Stone's way leads to the individual being subsumed into the group. Jordi feels humanity is already too proud -- some racial humility (or humiliation) might do them some good. Akim objectively understands the purpose of the Inquisition, but has also seen it applied to reflect Dominic's personal biases too often, and those biases are often designed to cut down the self-esteem of others. (Akim has not forgotten his own Interrogation when he was Servitor of Michael during Michael's trial.) And while Akim was a vocal supporter of Gabriel's during her trial, Gabriel's servitors dislike the airs Akim's Servitors put on, and Akim and Gabriel are clearly hostile to one another. Akim also feels her self-imposed exile reeks of hubris and the dark side of Pride -- for there was another who once said that it was better to Rule in Hell than Serve in Heaven....

Vassal of Dignity

With a word or two (and a cost of one essence), the Angel can remind a broken or humiliated person of their heritage or other source of personal pride, and return them to a state of dignity in travail.

Friend of the Family

With this distinction, the Angel can strengthen ties between an appropriate group of people (defined under the Kyriotate attunement above). With a successful Will roll and two essence spent, the Angel can smooth relations and calm intergroup bickering for a number of days equal to the Check Digit. This attunement does not work on Celestials.

Master of the Elite

With this attunement, an Angel automatically succeeds at any Will or other roll where the angel's pride or self-esteem could be under attack. Attacks designed to humiliate or break the spirit of the Angel will fail.
