Understanding the Middle Way through experience is unique to each I guess. This is interesting, but in a video I watched, a Buddhist man had to learn to eat meat with the others and he was a vegetarian. He ate the meat mainly out of respect/acceptance of the gift and set aside HIS RULES. He gained polarity by the fact that he accepted what was given.

As for desire, yes don't fall in the trap of having no desire at all. Not having any desire is bad. Do self reflection. Do your desires shame you or labeled inappropriate by others? I guess gay people, especially those growing up in fundamentalist homes really got intimate with this lesson. So we all recognize that we will have desires and there really is nothing you can do about that.

Now on Earth, we have sex, drugs, food, and music to experience and enjoy. We have to eat too. I see no problem with them and understanding and experiencing them can polarize one quite abundantly.
