I don't watch much tv or even movies any more but movies are a great catalyst, at least they have been for me. I noticed when well into my journey when I watched a movie that movie would always have something pertaining to me at that current point in time.
I tend to watch stuff more for catalyst and further understanding now instead of being mindlessly distracted by whats on the screen. I would say that would be the key difference between distraction and sleep and successful integration of the message whatever you where watching was trying to tell you.
