The first time was a near death experience on a small fisher boat during an island crossing in the south china sea.
We took over 4 hours for a normal 45 minute crossing, caught in a sudden storm.
Amidst some scenes of panic and impending doom on deck they appeared and took away my fears.
Since then they have been constant companions.
