I intended it as an example of something that has a general consensus of being potentially harmful. I could have chosen methamphetamine use instead of smoking. My point was simply that, while most of us probably refrain from judging others engaging in those behaviors, neither would we likely encourage someone to engage in those behaviors.
While most people don't consider vaccines to be in the same category as cigs or meth, to those who do consider them in the same category, recommending their use, or not speaking up, would be analogous to recommending cigs or meth, or neglecting to vocalize concerns when someone expresses an interest in those substances.
Hi Monica,
Perhaps you missed my point. To be clear: I do not think that cigarettes, methamphetamine, alcohol, red meat, or any number of modern "vices" are potentially harmful. The potential harm lies not in the substance or the activity, but in the individual. Furthermore, even though I choose not to engage in many of those behaviors myself (I will admit a certain penchant for an occasional fine steak and glass of Cabernet, for example), I actually would encourage people to experience whatever they feel drawn to experience in this incarnational sojourn. Recall the following:
Law of One, Book I, Session 18 Wrote:Questioner: Thank you. I have a question here that I will read: “Much of the mystic tradition of seeking on Earth holds the belief that the individual self must be erased or obliterated and the material world ignored for the individual to reach ‘nirvana,’ as it is called, or enlightenment. What is the proper role of the individual self and its worldly activities to aid an individual to grow more into the Law of One?”
Ra: I am Ra. The proper role of the entity is in this density to experience all things desired, to then analyze, understand, and accept these experiences, distilling from them the love/light within them. Nothing shall be overcome. That which is not needed falls away. The orientation develops due to analysis of desire. These desires become more and more distorted towards conscious application of love/light as the entity furnishes itself with distilled experience. We have found it to be inappropriate in the extreme to encourage the overcoming of any desires, except to suggest the imagination rather than the carrying out in the physical plane, as you call it, of those desires not consonant with the Law of One, thus preserving the primal distortion of free will.
The reason it is unwise to overcome is that overcoming is an unbalanced action creating difficulties in balancing in the time/space continuum. Overcoming, thus, creates the further environment for holding on to that which apparently has been overcome. All things are acceptable in the proper time for each entity, and in experiencing, in understanding, in accepting, in then sharing with otherselves, the appropriate distortion shall be moving away from distortions of one kind to distortions of another which may be more consonant with the Law of One.
It is, shall we say, a shortcut to simply ignore or overcome any desire. It must instead be understood and accepted. This takes patience and experience which can be analyzed with care, with compassion for self and for other-self.
On the occasions that I am offered the opportunity to share my thoughts about engaging in any of these behaviors with someone considering to do so, I suggest that they experience all things desired, but also note that they should be prepared to take responsibility for these actions, and any consequences that may result (including possible incarceration, loss of friends, health, wealth, mental stability, etc.). To the more enlightened person I also suggest examining the root of the desire through meditation and introspection. If the desire remains, then it is likely a part of the path intended for the individual. This is not to say that the behavior will be benign. It may, or may not be, but it likely is a course that will result in a valuable life lesson.
As an example from my personal life: In my early twenties, I was very good friends with a group of young men and women many of whom smoked. Being around them regularly, I too took up the habit because I wanted to learn what it was like. I made a conscious decision to start the potentially harmful activity and acknowledged my responsibility for the choice. Thusly, for a period of 2-3 years I smoked on a daily basis, and quite enjoyed the experience. Then one day, I woke up and chose to stop. I threw away the half pack that I had and simply stopped. I had no difficulty with withdrawal or nicotine cravings. I just walked away, and have had no desire for them in the 25 years since.
Finally, taking the discussion full circle, I think that there are a number of reasons that one might choose to take a vaccination. Consider a physician that treats chronically ill individuals that are more likely to have serious complications from the Swine Flu. This physician may choose to be vaccinated in order to offer to his/her patients the safest possible environment for them to seek health care. Such a choice would be, IMHO, a STO choice that will actually increase polarity. Consider now the otherwise healthy person that wants to be vaccinated in order to protect themselves from others that may be carrying the disease. Such a choice would, IMHO, be STS and would likely decrease their STO polarity. Someone that chooses to be vaccinated because of their fear of the disease is acting from fear that will likely bring some other negative side effect, and I believe that fear always depolarizes STO. The same can be said for those that choose not to be vaccinated out of fear of the vaccine or the conspirators that have created it. I could go on, but you get my point. I believe that it is the individual's personality distortions that manifest as their attitude that will determine what happens when they do or do not take the vaccine, and that the effects are much broader than simply injecting toxins or contracting a virus.
Ultimately, I think that we agree that people must make their own decisions about their lives. I view the result of any such decision as a well and proper manifestation of what was needed for the individual at that time. As such, I pursue much more vigorously the education of people about themselves than about our distorted and often conflicting consensuses regarding the cause and effect relationships of our actions and our illnesses.
