Let us remind ourselves that what we speak of here is a Mystery, and I am not sure that it has ever actually been referred to as a weapon.
Thoth refers to it as a spaceship. There is too much unknown to really make assumptions. However, archaeology often provides evidence of proof that a thing did exist or an event did happen. To me that would be the valuable here.
