I assumed hierarchy to imply a power structure. Perhaps it might suffice to use a different term, one that denotes different levels with less handicaps, more capabilities, wider scope of perception? Spiritual levels or plateaus works just fine methinks.

I also look forward to the 'grave', as I am aware that the grave is just a transition, not an end.
