When you use the faculties of feeling or intuition, you are oriented to a time/space evaluation or perception. Sensation and thinking are space/time orientations. Time/space orientations have a periphery of wholeness, universal or infinity, and space/time orientations are necessarily limited to circumstances and conditions.
For example, time/space 'feeling' evaluations are what you use when you elicit your sense of aesthetics (i.e. couch looks better over there, these colors of clothes are appropriate). Time/space 'intuitive' perceptions are what's used when seeing where something is going or from where it came. These two faculties are often confused, because both are of time/space (from wholeness). These are the 'feminine', or right-brained faculties of awareness.
Effective, or practical interpretation from intuition is largely dependent on one's world-view (weltanschauung) foundation. That world view can only be developed from feeling and thinking determinations. Without that 'rational' foundation, the intuition is stifled and may only yield vague apprehensions or notions. And because the intuition is also our access to the spirit, attachment to the (intuitively perceived) vague notions themselves often substitute for one's spiritual connection. This idea-attachment is exactly why hyper-intuitive people perceive personal attacks when their undigested ideas are questioned. Indeed the spiritually-associated vague idea or notion often gets put onto a pedestal which perpetuates an isolation between just that aspect of the person (which the idea represents) and the person as a whole.
