Thanks Tenet, for the lipase info. It is my understanding, as in a lot of the sciences, that we can observe and measure and record, but not really know much about something like metabolism. Just as we can perform the double-slit experiment and not know what it means (beyond speculation).
It seems to me, that in the specific issue of weight and fat, there may be so much more at play. Even from a purely physical standpoint, humans have the ancient mandate to store fat because at one time it was necessary for us to do so (I guess that may in part explain the fast-food burgers!). And there is the concept that a person may put on fat for "protection." Not that the person would consciously choose the weight, but may create it from the feeling that she/he needed a barrier perhaps, between her/himself and the world or a person (example: teen girl being molested by father).
