Turtledude, for my part, there is no judgment to you or anyone who benefits from whatever it takes to achieve balance. 
With children, who are at the mercy of their parents, it seems advisable to inform them of alternative balancing methods before putting them on drugs. Drugs have side effects. Good diet, exercise, and love do not. So it seems logical to try balancing naturally before taking pharmaceuticals.
The intention, as far as I can tell, of producing pharmaceuticals is to make money, and not to heal. Why do I say that? Because no company will sell a pharmaceutical that is not patentable. In order to patent a substance they must change the chemical composition, because you can't patent a naturally occurring substance. This is one of the reasons why caution is advised.
