I have to watch it on a weekend. I got a little ways. Where they talk about the center having been hotter than the edges, that is logical, the beam will be in a smaller area for a longer period with overlap going on. On the edges there is a longer period of cooling between each pass, allowing for overlap without as much heat buildup.
