The moon is the female principle, the reason why the moon was considered "negative" and dangerous is because the patriarchical societies were afraid of the female principle. So they worshipped the male as seen in the sun.
To say the moon is negative is to negate the feminine.
One cannot exist without the other, we need both the male and the female. The moon reflects, the sun radiates.
