I love to pray, but when I do, I don't even know who I'm talking to anymore (since I left organized religion).Sometimes I get embarrassed, because I feel like I'm laying there or sitting there talking to the wall, or to empty space.
I love the idea of feeling there is a God who loves me and that listens to me and gives me guidance. But just who are we praying to when we offer our words and feelings in prayer - and does it matter? Is it effective?
I noticed as I have been reading Carla's blog that she says she did her morning offerings - is that her way of saying she prayed?
Hi Kristy,
Interesting subject... metaphysic... my favorite! I'll share the following with you

In the old monastic ways, there was and probably still exists four daily techniques for connecting with "God":
1/ meditation
2/ contemplation
3/ praise and
4/ prayer
Today, we could call these four techniques by different terms and, could define them further and briefly as:
1/ inner listening, for meditation
2/ heart connection, for contemplation.
3/ state of gratitude and thankfulness, for praise.
4/ inner talking and sincere asking, for prayer.
I am not in religion. After all each of the three Abrahamic religions are keeping the true techniques and knowledge well hidden from the mass and devotees whom they feed instead with superstition in order to keep them in fear and under their control as an established organization, very much as in a pyramidal system. The faster people free themselves from those organization and replace superstition by truth and light, the sooner we'll reach a state of enlightenment for all.
You said, I was wondering how prayer fits into the big picture if we are all "God"?
Good question. So, who to are we really listening, connecting, gratefully rending grace and asking?
Some may know already, the answer is: the spirit, our own and individual Spirit, the Holy Spirit... the same spirit Carla calls 'Holy' or 'Holly' (spelling may needs checking). What we call "God" is the unity represented by the body/mind/spirit complex where the spirit is a part of. So, yes we are what we call God, each of us is but then, for being God, the requisite is to have connected with our spirit and to keep ourselves (the ego part called also the mind) in constant connection with our spirit at all time. Uniting those three parts within us is when we become ONE and, is the meaning of the Law of One. This is the awakened state, the adept state which one reaches when we have touched Intelligent Infinity (Ra's term).
The touching of Intelligent Infinity IS the connection with the spirit and, the bringing back of our Spirit within us. We say then that the Spirit is in us.
We then become One and, the Spirit then becomes our only guide.

I Mean that there are many steps to the state of Unity and, those are all valid and perfect but when you connect with spirit then there is no need for other guides than our Spirit.

 and Peace
Sometimes I get embarrassed, because I feel like I'm laying there or sitting there talking to the wall, or to empty space.
