The brain, quite simply, is a frequency receiver/decoder/transcoder. It takes frequencies within a specific spectrum, for example 'channel normal' (reality; sight, sound, touch, taste etc.) and generates the experience within our consciousness.
Ayahuasca retunes the brain's receiver wavelength, meaning you change the channel, and hence, experience a different reality. Since that channel is constant, i.e. always 'on', just like this reality, people experience the same happenings.
The brain is not the constructor of consciousness. The physical world we experience is a product of consciousness, and it's subjective for each person.
The pineal is the part of the brain that one retunes in which to experience different realities.
