I don't think he meant it like this. A lot of the problems that bother us are problems we could easily drop without causing problems.

Buddhists have this understanding that you should only worry about things in your sphere of influence anything outside should be ignored. For example meteor coming to destroy the earth? Don't worry, you can't fix that... Neighbors cow is stuck in a ditch? Worry and act all you like, because now you can fix it.
If disaster hits upon disaster and your neigbours cow is stuck in a ditch about to get hit by a meteorite then of course I'm not sure about what to do anymore.
