If you had the power to either A) stop this kind of event from ever occurring again, or B) stop the slaughter of animals from ever happening again, which would you choose and why?

I acknowledge these stories are about vegans, and not vegetarians. Yet they are still good examples of what happens when absolutism and zealotry take hold of what would otherwise be a noble idea. How a human being could rationalize harming or killing their own child in order to save a cow is beyond my comprehension. And yes, I also know these are extreme cases not representative of vegans in general. Obviously.
