Concerning the original discussion, thank you to everyone! I have been thinking and wondering about the spiritual existence of plants and animals for a while, and this thread has helped my perspective on both.
I was half-thinking along these lines recently when I saw a little bonzai-type tree/plant in a store. My mom bought it. It's cute!
It is a small tree, with bark, maybe 7 inches tall, with 2 inch almond-shaped leaves.
The talk about plant souls made me thing about cross-species splicing. I believe a pear tree branch can be spliced into some types of apple trees and vice versa; withe the concept of a plant as a group identity this leads to interesting thoughts for me.
