Here's a National Geographic feature on it:

It's a good article.
In terms of the demons and dark imagery the writer discusses in her article, I personally didn't have this problem. I kept the love of the creator and Ra's explanations with me in the form of words on paper, and in affirmations made orally whenever I felt distressed. Anytime I met a "dark" spirit or thought, I expressed love towards it, and it dissapeared!
I did have a soul retreival as discussed in the article, and this was a very healing experience. I saw my younger child-me, who was distressed, and so I brought him with me.
Another area where my experience was different to the article was the dosage. I deliberately took 'mild' doses, it was easier to deal with.
Having LOO as a framework to start with makes it easier to deal with the experience. Otherwise you might need a shamen to help you. For me, Ra's teachings were my guide/ shamen.
PS There is a good documentary about the same American shamen discussed in the article online http://youtu.be/aiUnYppu4sM
I would not like to take Aya with other people as described in this video. It's like watching an exorcist movie. Instead, I believe a peaceful, loving environment, as described by Sandra Ingerman in her Soul Retrieval book is more conducive to a smoother experience. The healing work will still get done, even without the extreme hysterics. You will see other "indiginous" shamens work mostly in silence with drumming or whistling instead.
