Ra mentioned sex in this quote as positive, and marijuana as not aiding the instuments service. So the sex isn't harmful and the marijuana is, to this instrument, although doesn't go far enough to effect her abilities.
Good point. But, I wouldn't interpret it as being harmful, since the effects are temporary. Carla probably couldn't channel as well while eating, taking a bath, or in normal sleep state either; that doesn't mean those activities cause permanent damage!
I interpret Ra's words to mean simply that, while sex provided lasting positive benefits, getting high was benign, neither good nor bad, but simply not advisable when she was channeling, as it would interfere. I suppose having the tv on in the next room might interfere as well!
It's important to note that Ra was referring to the long-term effects on a particular person: Carla. Are we to assume that the same would be true for everyone? Ra's words would seem to indicate so, as they seemed to be describing the effects of the weed on synaptic activity. What we don't know is whether those effects actually result in permanent changes in some people. Just as some people can drink coffee and go right to sleep, while others get jittery, so too might weed have different effects on brain chemistry and function, depending on the person. The mind/body/spirit complex is very complex!
My one personal observation is that some people who get high do experience memory loss and amotivation syndrome, while others apparently don't. So it would seem that the effects may vary among different people, at least as far as memory and amotivation syndrome are concerned.
The people I've known to have those negative effects (myself included) did not have any permanent damage, as far as we could tell, after they quit. But there's no doubt that, while stoned, the brain is affected! As our president stated when asked whether he had inhaled, "That was the point." (I loved his answer!)
I dated a guy in college who always went to class stoned...and we were computer programming students! I tried it once, and never again! Whereas his mind comprehended technical data while stoned, mine just wanted to put on headphones and listen to Pink Floyd!

The aura directly infront of the their eye seems clearer and unmoving. A bit like a shock has been delivered to the persons mind and they cannot see energetically so clearly. (Or are not looking.)
Can you please elaborate on how you perceive auras, and what the difference might indicate? What do you mean by 'clear and unmoving' - is this a negative thing? Is this what you would call a 'hole?' How do you know what a 'clear and unmoving' aura would indicate? In other words what is its significance when compared to the auras of non-stoners?
And, what sort of variations have you observed in non-stoners? Have you seen the 'clear and unmoving' variation in stoners only? Was this seen only in those currently stoned, currently indulging but not at the moment, or those who had formerly indulged? I am very intrigued by this and would like to learn more!
Even though I no longer get high, I have friends who do, as well as teens who sometimes talk to me...and, to be honest, I can't say that I never will again. It's possible I might like to toke now and then someday when I'm old and wrinkled and sitting in a rocking chair with headphones listening to Pink Floyd!
